Catchup Post

So I haven't been blogging much about toddler E. This will be a catch up post to share the quirky things he's been doing lately.

Here's a list to keep it short and simple:
- He's begun mimicking the roti prata man when he wakes up at 6am and I'm still struggling to drag myself out of bed. This goes along with him playing masak masak and making 'coffee' for me while he drinks 'water'.

- Some mornings he reads his favourite book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' instead. This lets me snooze for another 10 blissful minutes.

- He's learnt that meat is called 'bak' in Hokkien (because I speak to him in a mix of languages and use 'bak' instead of 'meat') and at meal times he'll ask for 'Bak only!' instead of the usual 'balanced' spoonful of rice, vegetable and meat that I normally try to give him.

- Daddy E has been teaching him common Thai phrases like 'sawadee krub' and 'khob khun krub' (I'm terrible at spelling in Thai, sorry!)

- He's also started asking a lot of questions, 'What dis?' 'Who dat'? (Trying to spell it the way toddler E says it, super cute and he's trying so hard with pronunciation!)

- Toddler E has a great love for snacks, 'bak hu' or pork floss is his current favourite. When we are over at my cousin's place, THE source of all 'bak hu' in toddler E's universe, when I tell him he's had enough 'bak hu' he will ask different people for it until he gets a 'Yes, you can have a bit of 'bak hu'!' or negotiating for 'A bit bit?' (A little bit).

- He's never liked having water on his head and face. So I bought him a shampoo hat (looks like a visor made of foam that he wears while I shampoo his head to keep water and suds out of his eyes) and that worked for a while.

- Favourite songs are Bicycle & We Will Rock You by Queen, 'Never Ever' by Taylor Swift. Lately he's really into Walk of the Earth's cover of Material Girl.

- Watching TV is no longer entirely passive on his part. Now he dances to theme songs from Hi 5, the hotdog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and a few other shows on the Disney Channel.

- Toddler E has been getting more and more independent. His favourite phrases are 'Elliott do it!' then when he's done whatever it is, 'Elliott did it!'

- Booger. He now gives me his boogers, rather proudly too. Don't judge.

- Learned to catch a ball from daddy E.

- He's been balancing on the scooter going up and down the driveway. Then when he gets tired of that, he uses the scooter handle as a microphone to belt out his favourite tunes.

Phew, glad I'm done with that wall of text. Been meaning to write all this down months ago. Toddler E's got a bunch of new things he's doing now!
